Baptism
Important Guidelines for the Sacrament of Baptism:
1) The Sacrament of Baptism should be celebrated in one's own parish. One's own parish is either the parish wherein one's residence is situated, or wherein on has formally registered and attends that parish church.
2) The Pre-Registration Form is to be carefully completed and is to be returned to the Parish Office as soon as possible. This form may be picked up from the pamphlet racks at the Church entrances.
NO DATE FOR THE CELEBRATION OF BAPTISM WILL BE SET UNTIL:
a) The parents of the child to be baptized have met with the parish pastor.
b) The parents and Godparents have participated in the parish Baptism Preparation Program.
3) Sponsors/Godparents: Two, and only two godparents are required for each Baptism. Their role in Baptism is important and serious. Therefore, for Baptism, the Godparents must be:
a) Practicing Catholics.
b) Who have themselves recieved the Sacrament of Confirmation and who have made their First Communion.
c) Who are at least 16 years of age.
d) Who understand their responsibility as a Godparent.
NOTE CAREFULLY! When choosing Godparents, choose wisely. Once they sponsor your child, they can never be changed!
