Our Pastor
Reverend Anthony Man-Son-Hing is the eldest son of Anthony Vernon Man-Son-Hing and Barbara Jeanne Lopes. Born in Guyana, his family imigrated to Canada in 1974 and settled in Sault Ste. Marie.
After completing elementary and secondary school in Sault Ste. Marie, Father Man-Son-Hing attended Wilfrid Laurier University (Waterloo, Ontario) from 1984-1988 where he completed the requirements for a Bachelor of Arts (Economics). He then attended Saint Augustine's Seminiary (Scarborough, Ontario) from 1988-1993 and holds a Master of Divinity (University of Toronto, Saint Augustine's Seminary, Toronto School of Theology), and a Bachelor of Sacred Theology (University of Saint Paul, Ottawa).
On May 14, 1993, His Excellency Jean-Louis Plouffe, Bishop of Sault Ste. Marie ordained Father Man-Son-Hing for service in the diocese. Since that time, he has been given the following appointments:
- 1993-1995: Associate rector of the Pro-Cathedral of the Assumption (North Bay, Ontario)
- 1995: Administrator of Our Lady of Lourdes parish (Manitouwadge, Ontario)
- 1995-1998: Pastor of Immaculate Conception parish, Massey; Saint Francis of Assisi parish, Walford; and Saint Lawrence, Martyr parish, Webbwood
- 1998: Pastoral experience in the parish of St-Félix in Cap Rouge (Archdiocese of Québec)
- 1998-2000: Pastor of St-Ignace and Ste-Croix parishes (Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario)
* On the first Sunday of Advent, 1999, the parishes of St-Ignace and Ste-Croix were canonically disolved, and the new parish of Ste-Marie-du-Sault was erected - 2000-2002: English-language Secretary at the Apostolic Nunciature in Canada (Ottawa, Ontario)
- 2002-2006: Chancellor of the Diocese of Sault Ste. Marie and Executive Secretary to His Excellency, Jean-Louis Plouffe
- 2006-present: Pastor of Christ the King (Sudbury, Ontario)
