Grow a row ... and more
Lines from my reading chair - May 18, 2008

Corpus Christi

Please note that next Sunday, May 25, there will be no 5:15 pm Mass celebrated here at Christ the King.  Instead, Bishop Plouffe will preside at a regional Mass which will be held here beginning at 2:00 pm on Sunday afternoon.

The festivities next Sunday will begin with a youth retreat (for children in grades 7-12) hosted here and animated by members of the National Evangelization Team, otherwise known as NET.  In addition, there will be activities for children in grades 3-6.  Those who want to take part in these activities must register, either by calling the parish office or online.  A link for this activity is now available on our parish website at www.christtheking.diocesessm.org.

Following the Mass, there will be a procession through the area streets with the Blessed Sacrament, and there will be a barbeque on the grounds of Ste-Anne-des-Pins church.

Please come and celebrate with us.

Grow a row

As long as the rain holds off, many parishioners will be planting gardens and preparing yards this weekend.  If you are planting vegetables, why not consider growing an extra row so that  as the fruits of your labour ripen, you can consider donating some of them to the Beech Street Community Kitchen.

This parish outreach project, which has been up and running since October 2007, has continued to grow.  The word is out and people from all over the city who live with various levels of food insecurity want to come and join us.

Thank you to all those who work so hard to make this project such a success.  If you would like to get involved, please call the parish office.  The Beech Street Community Kitchen meets on the first and third Thursdays of every month.

Thank you for your generosity

The Knights of Columbus presented a cheque in the amount of $429.15 this week, representing proceeds from their recent sale of Italian Sausages.  We gratefully acknowledge the dedication of the Knights and their generosity toward our Building Fund campaign.
